Re: LED downlights 48Apr 04, 2011 4:53 pm What about these http://www.led-lighting.com.au/10w-led-downlight.html has anyone used these? Re: LED downlights 50Apr 27, 2011 10:08 pm drewhawk anyone? See my post elsewhere regarding "240v" LEDs, and I notice, but mean nothing by it, that this particular unit actually has 10 * 1W LEDs in it. Whether that is good // bad // makes no difference // I don't know !! P_D . I like them. 800 lumens (same as a halogen) and no "eyes" staring at you. If they came in GU10 fitting I'd buy a few to try out. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: LED downlights 52Apr 30, 2011 5:13 pm The LED output might possibly be 80lm/w but that is not fixture lumen's. For eg. we are testing a new 88lm/w 7w chip theoretically 616 lumen's but I will be happy with over 500 out of the fixture not to mention this is a single chip not lots of smaller ones. I really think there needs to be an LED FAQ sheet written up a lot of the same questions are being asked. Re: LED downlights 53Apr 30, 2011 11:20 pm think_wise ......I really think there needs to be an LED FAQ sheet written up a lot of the same questions are being asked. And a comparison chart !!! I'd volunteer to do that if there's any interest from people who think it might be a good idea ..... P_D . Re: LED downlights 55May 02, 2011 10:16 am @ebay products Those lumen figures are incredibly overstated so make sure you are comparing apples with apples. I am slowly working through a comparison light output so far I have tested: Pierlite starburst 60 degree -12w (measured around 15W so I am thinking driver wasn't included) Osram coinlux 60 degree- 16w Bright green D900 45 degree - 16w (haven't added to this file as yet waiting for a 55 degree model) Philips Halogen 60 degree - 50w (they are not as bright as people think) Thinkwise Genesis 40 degree - 16w Measurements are all taken with a tektronix lux meter and are indication only. http://www.thinkwise.com.au/files/comparison.pdf Re: LED downlights 56May 02, 2011 9:34 pm I did suspect that the ebay products may be too good to be true. At this stage I'm unsure if I can afford any LED lighting, so I'll examine the overall costs of the build and see if there is any money left, I don't think there will be Re: LED downlights 57May 02, 2011 10:34 pm Even just replacing your top 10 most used halogens can make a chunky difference. In the scheme of a house build or Reno this will mostly likely cost less than 1% of the build. Re: LED downlights 58Jun 11, 2011 7:07 am For anyone considering the pierlite starbursts, we ended up going with these, they come with a 3 year warranty. I've taken some photos. The light output is impressive. This is a 3m ceiling. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0304.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0305.jpg Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done. Keys soon. Re: LED downlights 60Jul 02, 2011 11:44 pm Think wise, Do your Genesis 16 Watt lamps use the CREE XM-L T6 LED? I note that these run at a claimed 100 lumen per watt which is exceptional efficiency if true. They also give out 975 lumens from the single LED. I would appreciate your comments on these. Do any downlights use these? For anyone interested, here is some info on this LED: http://www.led-tech.de/en/High-Power-LEDs-Cree/CREE-XM-Serie/CREE-XM-L-T6-Emitter-LT-1731_120_170.html |
