From the reading of the other forum thread I have read that a corroded antenna can also be the cause of the problem. Mine is pretty old (and an even older one disconnected under the house!) so perhaps my next step should be replacing the UHF antenna rather than movong the whole mast... Mind you this morning my initial intent was to purchase a new antenna, however that hunch paid off by removing the additional power source.
