Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Oct 25, 2009 9:10 am Hey All, The house is nearly at lock up and I thought that it's probably a good idea if I start thinking about what lighting I want to have in the house. I'm in two minds at the moment as to whether put downlights in or pendants, I think I will end up with a combination of both so am trying to decide what goes where!! I've attached my floor plan for where I think I may put things, but its still up for negotiation (advantage of going with a small builder) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Red = Pendant Blue = Downlight Orange = Batton Grey = Fan/light The only pendant I have selected is for over the kitchen bench which I've displayed below. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've found another pendant which I like (and is in the right price) however I'm not sure where to put them.... The is the first one that I'm looking at. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was thinking that this could go over the dining room table. The pendant is 52 cm (D) x 150 cm (H) (they do have smaller ones so its an option) Also might be one that I'd put in the master bedroom. The second I was thinking of putting in the entry of the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This one is 43 cm (D) x 100 cm (H). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh ceilings are 9ft. Don't forget the lights for the toilets and garage. I would go ixl fan/lights in the bathroom not downlights. You dont need 3 lights in the bathroom. My builder charged $100 each downlight. I think the rumpus room downlights are too close to the walls. That meals area may need another light. I would only have two downlights in the kitchen, offcentre to your pendants. Also dont forget your outside lights. Have fun Re: Lighting Plan 3Oct 25, 2009 7:59 pm Thanks for your suggestions buildingwithharma!! I was originally planning on putting a pendant in the lounge and then changed my mind. Will go back to the original idea. Lights in toilets and garage not forgotten, am going to go with 2 double fluro things in the garage and the light/fan thing in the toilets so all sweet. The reason why I stuck in downlights in the bathroom was that my parents and I visited a couple of display homes yesterday and saw them there and they looked good. I guess the IXL thingos are more functional then downlights in the room. Re downlights in the rumpus, that's just my crap drawing, all I know is that I want six in that room lol! With the meals area, where would you suggest I add the extra lights? That bit has kind of stumped me. Good idea re the kitchen downlights I'll be doing that. Yes, have to work out where the outside lights are going. Thanks again for your suggestion.
