Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Sep 23, 2009 12:16 pm Hi everyone, A quick question. We live in a unit and have a separate room kitchen in a U-shape. I was wanting to put in a 4 spotlight track but the electrician (brother-in-law) says that it will cast too much of a shadow as the light will be behind you when standing at the benchtop. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think downlights can be installed in the ceiling. thanks!@ Re: Light for closed in kitchen? 2Sep 23, 2009 12:44 pm What about one of the newer round / square fluoro lights? We are having two installed in our walk in pantry as there is no natural light at all. My retired electrician father recommended them for strong lighting. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Light for closed in kitchen? 5Sep 25, 2009 7:54 am thats very similar to what i have installed in my kitchen http://www.beaconshop.com.au/index.php? ... t&Itemid=1 I have a galley kitchen. Its open at both ends but still very dark. Had a light similar to what you wanted and couldn't see into the bottom cupboards very well Installed the square fluoro and place is lit up like a xmas tree!! it's great. no shadows. can see into the cupboards. The only trouble is it shows what bad condition our ceiling is in I also have one downlight over the bench, but i hardly use it as the fluoro does such a good job. I plan on putting them throughout the house now Re: Light for closed in kitchen? 6Sep 25, 2009 1:49 pm Mel - that is great to know, thanks. We are putting them into DD's WIR, the two powder rooms, laundry as well as another two in my walk-in pantry. Was a little sceptical that they would throw much light - even though Dad assured me they would be fine Some things are worth waiting for.
