Even though I love halogen downlights our energy requirements state that we need to use flurocescent or LED lighting. I have attached our house plans for you to review. Our ground floor has a ceiling height of 2.7m and the first floor is 2.4m. We have 80% energy eff ruling here in Qld. We are putting in over 30 downlights. 120mm dia brushed silver enclosure with a glass diffuser cover and they run a 15W CFL bulb. They look as nice or perhaps nicer than your std halogen.
