Hi all!
We are building with Me3kon and have recently had the electrical visit. We had the option to upgrade a standard batten to downlight for $40, but additional ones would cost $95 each ($55 for wiring and $40 for downlight). After a recent visit to beacon for our 'homework' we figured out that the cfl globes to fit in the standard downlight are still not in the market. I also spoke to a sparky who recommended just to get the prewiring done by them in the groundfloor of double storey . We have opted for the latter.
I would like to know
1. standard prices for wiring in accessible areas by sparkies (Melbourne)
2. Prices to undo the batten and replace wirth downlight (would it still cost $95 all up if I get a downlight for about $20 and have the sparky to put it in).
Hubby is keen to get them done by the builder using their 'standard downlights' whereas i want to have options.
We would be getting a sparky to install oven, a/c, outdoor light etc etc so I guess it will be a hourly rate. Does this sound right?
3. Has anybody taken this path and experiences/hurdles.
cheers,
vp
