i was quoted at my local lighting store on the gu10 cfl fixed @ $32.95 (11W) each! where can i get a better price on these little suckers. (im in a small town so need some tips before i travel to major towns etc)
thanks in advance
From www.neco.com.au (located in Sydney, but mail order possible), we have a price of $22.95 for the 11 Watt GU10. So it looks like you can do better than $32.95.
FYI
Light-up Australia is having a sale- 50% off everything. CFL downlight kits are retailing for 11 dollars (normally 21.99). I hope those who are well ahead in the building process can seize the opportunity while we still wait for council decisions!

I am not sure when it ends- I had been to the store near work on Friday 15 June. check their website- I am sure you'll find out if u google on Light-up. By the way this is in Melbourne. Since I am at least 9 months away from the light fitting phase of construction I have given my email contact to them as they send u email for their specials.
good luck,
vp
Last time we saw the LightUp 50% off everything sale we went in to our local store to buy some GU10 kits. We had already priced them there several months before, $32-$34 for the globe & fitting.
The price we were quoted during the 50% off everything sale was $27.50 - we queried this and were told that the price was correct and it was 50% off their usual price.
What a joke!! They lost some customers for life!!!!

Travelled a long way to a Light-Up store, a fw days before the end of June, and got told the same thing.
I argued with them about false advertising, and managed to negotiate a deal on 8 CFL kits, including globes, for $17 each. When I asked about additional globes she told me $17 each as well.....so I didn't bother with spares .(they should only be around $11 for the globes I got in the kits).
I think they only did it to shut me up, because I threatened to report them to the ACCC and advertising standards.
Light Up Australia always use that tactic of advdertising 50-70% off everything in store. The local one near me, has it plastered permanently on the shop front.
When I go in to check what they have, i notice that the retail price is so high the 50% off is pretty much the normal market price.
Bunnings sell the CFL GU10 downlights for $16.50. There is a conversion kit you can get that replaces the transformer and allows you to use your current mounting. They cost about $3. Didn't see any at bunnings, but apparntly they have them at www.envirionmentshop.com.au.
Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O…
