Our Blog! http://cityplantation.blogspot.com | Building the Havana 485 with Plantation Homes (Henley) Re: PD Electrical and Downlights 23Mar 13, 2009 1:09 pm erinleigh We just had our electrical appointment today and was hoping to spend under $1,000... but spent $1,500. Haha. Our extras were 9 downlights. 3 extra double powerpoints. 1 extra double for island bench. 1 extra waterproof for alfresco. 2 junction boxes for the pillars in our facade for lights later. 1 extra tv point. 1 phone point. Adds up quick. ONE extra power point? I lost count of how many we added (one extra in each of the kids' rooms, one in the hall, one in the entry, one in the gallery, an extra in the study, kitchen bench, pantry, lounge...). And lights. And outdoor power points. And junction boxes for our feature lights. And bathroom heaters. Phone and TV points were already included, plus we had a $3000 electrical allowance and we managed to spend over $6000. I still missed a couple of spots where we should have put power points, dammit! Now I have to run an extension cord for my sewing machine. Bah! Re: PD Electrical and Downlights 24Mar 13, 2009 1:21 pm 16 doouble indoor power points
1 double outdoor power point 3 inside batten lights 3 outdoor water proof batten lights 1 extra phone point = $1,041 I had already included 2 phone points and 2 tv points in my original sales quote. I may also add another 3 power points another outdoor power point and some junction boxes though. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Also, Are data points apart of the electrical upgrades? Re: PD Electrical and Downlights 26Mar 13, 2009 2:28 pm We are not having any downlights, I am not a fan of them. We have them all through our existing house and I don't really like them, except for the ones in the kitchen over the bench. We will have oyster lights through the house and a few nice feature pendants in the living areas and a nice set of lights in the kitchen.
We spent about $3000 on our electricals, that was for heaps more powerpoints including external ones, extra phone and TV points, extra light points and switches, provisions for ceiling fans, outdoor lights and sensor. There is probably more but I can't remember off the top of my head. But it does soon add up. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Also, Are data points apart of the electrical upgrades? Junction boxes are for use outside only - they terminate the wires for an outdoor light into a weather proof junction box and install the light switch inside - then all an electrician needs to do is wire up your new light to the existing wires. Do a search on here for junction box for more info 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' We honestly don't need any more then that.. we are not huge on electrical appliances and we don't have any kids just yet. So it's all good. And i thought our $1,500 was a lot for extra electricals! Eeek. We do know a sparky.. so we can always add later too if we really need to. Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. Re: PD Electrical and Downlights 31Mar 14, 2009 3:57 pm A good idea is to buy a roll of tps cable yourself and run wire were you plan on putting lights spoke with H****Y electrician when doing our house was happy for us to do so and mark ends with tags DO-NOT CONNECT. Therefore he would sign off on his own work and not ours. purchase all your downlights and have fitted later. Take photos of your cableing and were its all clipped so you local sparky or your mates one as everyone know's a sparky can see and sign off on. Will save you hundreds and insome cases thousands of dollars.
1.00mm tps 100mtr roll $70-80. Re: PD Electrical and Downlights 32Mar 15, 2009 8:20 pm Our original electrical allowance was just over $3,000... with the addition of heaps of downlights, powerpoints, tv and data points, then add on some HD Paytv points and we're now over the $7,000 mark... We're with PD - has anyone else used data wiring with them? Where do they run the data lines to, and how do they finish them off?
