Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Feb 24, 2009 10:41 pm I am going to ask a silly question.
I am getting std clipsal lights installed throughout the house on the ceiling and was wondering if you can buy covers that just fit onto these or do I need to install or is there nothing I can do? I am a complete beginner with this stuff and am wondering what options I have to work with the std lights. Is there somewhere online I can have a look at shades? I have found lamp shades online, but no ceiling light shades yet. Or are they called something different. Sorry if this is a stupid question and thank you for everyone's fantastic help with all my previous questions. Re: Ceiling light shade? Batten fix? 2Feb 24, 2009 11:26 pm I have been googling a little more and came across something called batten fix DIY shades.
Is this what I am looking for? Has anyone bought these and do you have photos? Re: Ceiling light shade? Batten fix? 3Feb 25, 2009 7:52 am Yes that is what you need to look for then you just unscrew the basic fitting and then screw on the batten fix.
Mercator do a large range of these and I used them in my last house. Will most prob use some in this house too Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Ceiling light shade? Batten fix? 4Feb 25, 2009 12:43 pm DIY Batten fix is what you need. Bunnings has them as well as this website that I think has quite a decent selection:

Wow Beacon's had some fantastic electrician install lights. The real wow effect, but out of my price range. After work I think I will pop into Bunnings and see what they have as well. I am considering pendants for the kitchen and something else for the bathroom, lounge and spare room. Do people cover the outside lights as well? I have about 5 outside lights, 3 on the front and 2 on the back? Also do people wait until the house is built before buying fixtures or buy beforehand so your ready? Cheers FNH Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 3790 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?. 3 4869 |
