Blog: http://thereluctantbuilder.blogspot.com/ Re: Show me your Feature lighting 3Feb 18, 2009 6:51 am All depends on budget and what style your looking for.
are you looking at having feature walls, nice tiling or floors. Where do you want to highlight? I would do wall light that become the feature. eg. these is a pattern. http://www.speciallights.com.au/_produc ... e_Enclosed I know these ones are expensive but I've just used them as an example of the style. I'd use 5 each side mounted horizontally to give the room more length. I'd even go to the trouble of making a frame and covering it in material and flouro's behind it. Looking for something under $200 and something that wont hang down to low. Oznark thatss gorgeous! if you dont mind me asking... where did you get it??? HOME- is where your story begins! Re: Show me your Feature lighting 5Feb 18, 2009 10:26 am Pinkapples - if you go into the link with all the on-line lighting stores there are some beautiful lights (I have about 50 bookmarked ready for the time to buy finally comes!!).
That website previously posted has some gorgeous lights but the prices are a wee bit scary Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Show me your Feature lighting 6Feb 18, 2009 10:48 am For under $200...........
That's not a lot to play with. I would build a frame (or buy the pre-made canvas for paintings) and cover it with material so it looks like artwork and then mount flouro's behind to shine through. I have made artworks like this for around$70 each. adding the lights will be around $35 per light. Here's one i prepared earlier http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/aussieIDI-07/housestuff029-1.jpg The light would be subtle, so it may not be enough to light it up fully. These cost $100 for each including all the bits. You could mount them higher and to shine up rather than down. you would need 4 though. http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/aussieIDI-07/housestuff007.jpg $200 isn't much to play with for WOW factor style lights. Thanks HOME- is where your story begins! Re: Show me your Feature lighting 10Feb 19, 2009 6:13 am I have a very similar light over my dining room.
After 4 years of no light there as the ex and I couldn't find the perfect light, we found this. I thought $600 was expensive so I made a deal. We had to have 12 people comment on how lovely it is to be worth the money. They had to comment without any help. we never got there. This is the light fitting http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/aussieIDI-07/DSC02484.jpg this is the pattern inside of the light. http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/aussieIDI-07/DSC02483.jpg When its on it reflects the pattern as a feature. Side note. the light isn't up any more. she wanted it in the separation but never came to pick it up, so hence the shots of it on the bed. It will go back up soon. how high is the ceiling? how tall are you guys? Do you want a pendant or wall mount? You could simply do square downlights mounted in the pelmet but instead of shining down, mount them in the side panel as per the photo. this is being done in high styled shopping centres at the moment. Would love one in one of our bedrroms. Chhers I'm 98% sure that is a Marc Pascal light. The Cotton On Kids shop at Chadstone Shopping Centre has one. I saw it in there last year and found out what it was/who made it. It's called "Eyoi Yoi" and also comes in a floor lamp and table lamp. I've bookmarked it for my 6yo's room. It's really lovely. They have some great lights on their website. http://www.marcpascal.com/entry.html I think I've decided on having these in our entry and lounge room. Tarin and Donuts I like yours (your lounge room one Donuts) for our HT but want a shorter cord length so drum is closer to the ceiling.
