My living room has a balcony along one side. Nice and big. It's got 2 separate large sliding glass doors, with a narrow wall in the middle of them. The wall is about 50cm maybe across, in between these two doors. There is a light switch on the wall about halfway up. What I want is to put a power point on this narrow wall, down the bottom near the floor, so I can have my lamp on a column type stand on this wall, and not have to have the cord stretched all the way along, past the window and over to the corner power point. *groan* It'd be awkward and unattractive. I know the electrician said he couldn't put a power point in another wall that backs onto the bathroom because he couldn't get into the wall, and also despite the fact that wall had a light switch right above where we wanted the power point to be (there was already a power point further along the wall, we just wanted that one closed and a new one installed elsewhere on the same wall), apparently light switches and power points are unrelated and just cause one is there doesn't mean another one can go there too. Anyone? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Powerpoint on internal wall in between 2 glass doors? 2Oct 19, 2008 11:32 am depends if it single brick or double. i am assuming it is brick?
There may be a gap to run the cable down. Just because there is a cable there doesn't mean there is a gap. The original cable could have been layed in a chanel gouged out of the wall when it was built and plastered over. ive seen a couple of new houses done like this. I hate it. If single brick, it could be run but it would mean channelling the wall. big $$$$ you need to get a sparky to look at it grace, its hard to give advice without looking at it. Sorry Sorry, don't know costs, but there are a couple of very important principles you need to get right (and now) .... (1) never agree to any "upgrade" unless you first know… 5 6811 Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3238 What do you need them to withstand? If it's normal wear and tear, then either will do, if you want resistance to ingress then laminated would be the favourite, but only… 1 12380 |
