I have just realised that we have only chosen the regular light bulb for our house particularly the living room. For some reason I thought the default lighting in the living room is the oyster type so I did not ask for an upgrade. Anyway, in case I change the lighting in the future, would it be easy to convert from this bulb to an oyster type of lighting? Will this include a lot of work or electricity wiring adjustment or it’s just a matter of changing the bulbs? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Is your house single storey or double storey ? If it’s single storey then it can be done easily after handover. But if it’s double storey then doing any changes downstairs can be very challenging. Hi it’s only one storey. So does it mean, it’s as easy as just changing the light fixtures? Will it be more difficult if we change it to an LED oyster? I am still confused between fluorescent and LED. I dont even have any idea if the bulb installed now is LED or not. Our ceiling height is 2.7 mm btw. Re: Our light is not what we’ve expected 5Oct 27, 2020 6:55 am ![]() Just get a sparky in after handover and explain what you want. They can either provide the lights or you can buy them and have them installed. It's not a drama. Thanks for the info. I’m not really familiar with things like this. I was worried they have to open the ceiling to do all these changes. I’m glad this can be mend easily by a professional. Re: Our light is not what we’ve expected 6Oct 27, 2020 10:39 am The sparky will have to access your roof space via the manhole and if you want multiple downlights installed, to replace what the builder has installed, then they'll make cutouts in the ceiling. No big deal and a lot cheaper to get it done by a sparky than having your builder do it. That said your builder really should have explained your options in regards lighting layout.
