Browse Forums Old Home Restoration / Renovation 1 May 17, 2020 10:11 pm We recently purchased a Federation cottage and there doesn't appear to be any physical access to the sub-floor void. The floors look like they have been worked on at some point, so we are wondering whether an access point was removed. We'd like to be able to get down there for a more thorough pest inspection, and to explore the potential for storage. Two questions: 1. Do houses of this type typically have sub-floor access, and if so, where might you usually find it and what form does it take? 2. If I were to create an access point large enough to allow access, where would you recommend I do it? My current thinking is to find a spot in one of the front bedrooms (the land slopes down a few feet toward the front of the house), possibly under where we plan to put a bed. Floorplan below - your typical early 1900's deal, with the typical 70's kitchen & dining room reno. Cheers, Brett Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure if that works?
