Browse Forums Old Home Restoration / Renovation 1 Sep 29, 2022 9:14 am I've just bought a 1900s weatherboard house, and the previous owner has started/abandoned some pretty insensitive 'improvements'. Top of my mind, is how to redeem the halfway and main reception room. The low-grade tuner lining was covered with hessian and wallpaper, of which he has hacked off about 60% in the hall, totally gone elsewhere. The lower half of the walls have an elaborate dado. I think plasterboard in lieu of the hessian will be too thick for the dado top (haven't taken possession yet but that's how I remember it). Suggestions? I'd love to be able to restore the original, but accept this might not be possible. How can you hang hessian successfully? Can you join newpapers below the existing?? Am I asking too many questions??? (This is my first post. I'll attach photos if I can) Re: Replacing hessian linings 2Sep 29, 2022 9:19 am [quote="PamSwan":dy1j788e]I've just bought a 1900s weatherboard house, and the previous owner has started/abandoned some pretty insensitive 'improvements'.
