Browse Forums Old Home Restoration / Renovation 1 Aug 29, 2021 10:08 am We purchased a property where the previous owners had constructed an atrium / pergola structure around the front entrance made of timber, plywood and cladded with cement sheet. There is no weather proofing on the framing. I'm looking for advice... Should there be flashing, ridge capping or even just a painted-on membrane? Any and all advice welcome thanks! If you paint it with a membrane you will effectively make a dam on top. It will fill with water and sit there. The membrane will fail and you'll have issues. It looks like the job was never really finished and is poorly done. Here's some better photos. The guy that put this up did a lot of his own stuff, as I'm discovering. The narrow wall top (110mm) should be easy enough to put some flashing over, just not sure how to deal with the wider one which is 300mm. You can just about see he's left gaps between the cladding and the frame to let water escape. I don't want to tear it all down, ideally can find some suitable flashing or ridge top to use. Any suggestions welcomed 😊 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Scientists have used random matrix theory to demonstrate theoretically that the neutrino mass hierarchy can be explained mathematically.
