Suggestion: Kids forum on HO

Does anyone think there would be any value to a kids forum on HO. I say this because I am frequently looking for child focused home ideas for our little one i.e. how to decorate kids bedrooms, lighting, gardening ideas, spaces for children etc.

It seems that there are a lot of parents on the site and it might be a valuable addition to the HO forum.

I'm probably coming in left of field :oops:

but a number of other forums have a similar addition.

What are your thoughts??????

A couple of ideas for a title: Kidz Decor or Kidz Corner (not a fave as it suggests that kids should be put in a corner) or Children's Playhouse.

Short description: recent research in early childhood and neuroscience has shown that positive experiences in the early years (up to 5 years of age) is essential for ensuring children reach their full potential. This sub forum could be child focused and cover issues such as:
. designing rooms that enhance child learning , creativity, development and play
. improving safety in the home
. gardens for children

I'm sure others will also have some good ideas.

Otherwise, do you guys feel a collective of say 3 - 4 children's forum topics would be more appropriate.

Dy & Jason, i think a children's forum is a good idea.

But instead of making sub forums initially , maybe we start with a general forum and see how it goes with the topics and content of the threads.

We can always create sub-forums and move threads into them if it's popularity grows....

There have been a few topics covered in recent months, from decorating childrens rooms, to how we have built our houses differently to cater for our children to discussing safety concerns as well as dietary requirements and warnings.

Jason, i am in favour of such a forum and a big thanks to Dy for suggesting it.

I think the intention is for parents who want info on kids decor etc but perhaps I am in the minority.

…her décor is as expensive as mine!!!!

The suggested forum is not intended to be directly or indirectly targeted at children, but rather parents of.

Question is, with the current title and description proposed, do you think it will attract children in engaging in conversation. Will it be misconstrued to suggest it's a forum for children?

My suggestion is perhaps lead the description with something like "Parents can discuss..." - something to that effect.

Still up for debate.

Ash (royalblue), what are your thoughts?

That was my concern…. Although I’m sure once they had a sniff around in here they wouldn’t stay long! Too boring for them!!! :wink:

I like your suggestion of Parents can discuss..." keeping the word child or children out of it!
