Browse Forums Bugs & Suggestions 1 Feb 10, 2009 11:04 pm I've been here exactly five minutes and I'm already whingeing!! What about a forum to help people looking for old materials, or interested in old building methods? Maybe a forum called 'Fixing an old home' could go after the forum 'Building a new home'. It's more than a niche - there's a big industry out there, much to learn and many traps for new players. I'm not just speaking in my own interest, There are a lot of people who own an old house who may be interested in matching missing bits or doing work which is sympathetic to the original style. There is a surprising amount of reclaimed, salvaged and reproduction material available. The right thing is sometimes its hard to find, but there's often someone out there who knows! Good work can be old or new - so can bad work. Re: What about a heritage or conservation thread? 2Apr 09, 2009 3:11 pm Hear, hear. Even if our house in only 1950's, I would still love to see a section devoted to restoration. Searching doesnt help very much.
