Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 27, 2006 9:55 am I have a timber floored house (no concrete slab) and I am currently renovating it to be rented out. I need something like a board to go underneath of the vinal, because some of the timber boards are not level and I need something that can level it out. Does anyone have any ideas/
Also how would I go about laying it, what glue, do I need a soft felt to go underneath, and how do I go about joining the vinal (its 1.8m long and I need 2 lengths side by side) If any one had any ideas or suggestions that would be great. Re: Floorboards and vinal 2Dec 27, 2006 10:54 am Hi Newhomebuilder
I would say that best bet for under the vinyl would be Masonite Underlay. It comes in sheets of 1200 * 900 and you must put it down using the proper 'underlay' nails. Your local hardware store would stock this, and you could probably check with them regarding the best glue to use for this purpose. The most important thing with this underlay is nailing it properly, but again seek advice from where you buy this product. Can't really help with the joining, but maybe you could ask the supplier for some tips or guides. I did this when completing a large tiling job a couple of years ago and found that the suppliers were only too happy to offer advice. Good luck with it all. Re: Floorboards and vinal 3Dec 27, 2006 8:07 pm It depends on the difference in floor height you need to mate - but as said masonite is usually the way to go.
