Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 04, 2019 6:17 pm Hi, i have been trying to find some reviews on this product which was recommended by local flooring company but can find absolutely no information online. Has anybody installed this in their home? Very confused deciding on best option... timber, laminate, vinyl, bamboo etc, etc. I need something light in colour as South facing so not a lot of light. Thank you for any suggestions or advice. Vinyl flooring is made of PVC and is generally the cheapest and most biologically and environmentally dangerous flooring you can think of. Because chemical manufacturers are not required to reveal proprietary ingredients in their products, it is nearly impossible for consumers to determine which product might be safer than another." "The emissions from PVC create health hazards, such as dioxins and furans, two of the most toxic chemicals on the planet. These chemicals are typically produced during the manufacturing process and from incineration in landfills. Small amounts may also be emitted from exposure to the sun and proximity to heat coming from a furnace or fireplace in your home" Some PVC floors are safer than others, however, in the end of the day, there is still a lot of uncertainty how exactly it has been tested, as all the above certifications have significant limitations. Even though the floor itself may seem to be safe, no one is testing it long hours of exposure under Aussie sun or near fireplace. Also, I wouldn't bet a single cent on PVC/LVT floors safety in the event if they catch fire. It is always better to prevent the problem altogether and find alternative solution, considering there are so many healthier and more sustainable alternatives available. Its fantastic, I have dogs and wear high heels...no scratches yet. You will not go wrong with this product.. Waterproof AC4 rating....great colours. BTW dont believe everything Alex has to say. believe it or not if we didn't have PVC, buildings couldn't be built, nor would hospitals be able to operate, ie: blood bags are PVC, tubes into bodies are PVC. There is Best Practice PVC flooring which is manufactured in Australia by Armstrong Flooring. If you check globally Forbo are not Best Practice PVC.....hence they knock the flooring products. And all the lino they make goes to landfill in Australia..... Hello all, I am thinking of getting my flooring replaced with Hybrid flooring.
