Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 09, 2018 9:13 pm Hi, I like many here building a house for the very 1st time. Usually we preoccupied our self with designs , color selections etc. After my build has started I only realised that the 1st floor live load weight of my house only supports 152kg per m2. I assume unless you specify your builder to say you want 200kg per m2 , they will just do the Australian standard. This is what they call live load. ie. Including furniture , people etc. So in effect if 2 adult snuggled up on a nice antique timber single seater sofa. It would easily go past the 152kg. I can see the 152kg. per m2 can be easily surpassed in many situations. But I guess all is well or else there will be a lot of news about 1st floor crumbling....
