Engineered Timber - 1.5mm veneer

Can someone explain the difference between Super Tough Engineered Timber (Oak) and Engineered Timber (Oak) specifically to the top layer veneer thickness. I've seen some places sell either a floorboard where the top layer veneer is 1.5mm (15mm floorboard), 4mm (15mm floorboard), and 6mm (20mm floorboard).

eg; this pic looks like 4-8mm of real hardwood
The top veneer is the actual timber on the boards - - I would not personally go with 1.5mm veneer board due to it being to thin. 4mm to 6mm veneer boards are seen in most reputable high end engineered boards.

Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity.
