Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 29, 2008 9:02 am Hi Guys!!!!
Our house is only 7 years old and we are in the need for a change!!!I thought I had it all planed out what I wanted and that was to replace the tiles through out with floorboards and to pull up the carpets in the bedrooms and have floorboards in there!! Our carpet is in such bad way,,Its making me really unhappy but I am toilet training my daughter and we have had a few mishaps. I went and go a couple of quotes for the floor boards and now I am just not sure which way to go..we are going to have to pull up all the tiles(1800 to get someone to pull up and take a way) Sorry about this rambling but I am just a little lost!! I guess what I am trying to say is that I want the best timber floors that I can have for a slsb and where would I start to look. Also, our bathroon needs to be fixed (bath needs to be replaced and also the shower was put in wrong by the builder and now we have water damage i the plaster) So we were thinking about replacing the tiles one the floor as well.. So how will the level work between the tiles and the timber?? Thanks so much!! If you get to the bottom of this...I am very proud! Re: Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3Aug 29, 2008 9:51 am Thanks heaps Paula!!
This is great place looking forward to getting to know people here!! Sorry about all the typing errors...I type in a mad rush while my daughter is happy to play by herself!! Re: Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4Aug 29, 2008 10:18 am Look on yellow pages.com and look up wood floor shops in your area. I think any of them would be able to help you and then come back on here and see if anyone has had any experience with them.
Seeing that you are looking at getting your bathroom done aswell, I would consider if you are having tades come through where you would like to have wood floors consider tackling the bathroom first. I love my wood floors and you can't go wrong with them and your toilet training mishaps would be much easier to clean up. Just think you are not keeping your carpet anyway so don't let it get you down when there are mishaps. Good luck.... Re: Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5Aug 29, 2008 4:14 pm Hi!
The plan is too do the bathroom first (which is another story) and then get the floors done. I have been to a couple of flooring places and got quotes and now that I have had a good look, I am scared to outlay the money to findout that I have made a bad choice...Would you go for the Hardwood timer floating floors or Go with Hardwood floorboards put over Plywood???? Re: Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6Aug 29, 2008 4:27 pm I would do the hardwood not the plywood but thats me and I don't have any experience with the plywood. Is the plywood more expensive?
All I can tell you is that I don't regret it for a second we have and inside dog also(a boxer) and the floors were great with her. They did scratch slightly in places but for me that is the character of wood, and you only saw those scratches on certain angles at certain times of the day....... They always looked clean even when they weren't and when it came time to sell the house the floors were a big draw card. It really is a personnel decision though but if you love them go for it....... Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3622 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
