Someone came over a couple of weeks ago and said ‘ did you install it yourself? It looks like off cuts’... which is why they have been back to try to repair it. Also - when they repaired it we had a 10day old baby in the room next to the guy. He started melting the tape and the house smelled of plastic. The mrs ran out of the house with the baby and tried to shout up to the guy to stop but he didn’t hear her. She stayed out for 2-3 hours till he was finished because she couldnt put the baby down to go inside. The installer who did the carpet was 18-20. I don’t like complaining and they have been back to ‘fix’ it already but gave me the ‘you’re an idiot, you don’t know how carpet works, this is as good as it gets... $7k and this is the quality you get’ lecture. Basically don’t call us again kind of deal. Re: Carpet installed in hall in 2-3m sections 4Oct 22, 2017 8:34 am Not sure the baby story or the fact that the installer was young (we all need to start somewhere) have a bearing on the outcome, but they should be able to lay a hallway in one piece unless it is longer than the length of carpet roll. Here is a picture of a +5m hall, and the carpet is one piece, not just along the length of the hall, but also to one of the sides because the carpet was wide enough. There are joins, but they are in natural points, like the doorways. I've already asked the store to fix it but they gave me the third degree and made me feel like I'm dumb so I dont really want to go back to them. Some joins might have been necessary, but they could have been lined up exactly with the doorways and adjoining hall. They also look lumpy, but that is not helped by the choice of carpet, with seems to be one block colour and without texture, making every join more obvious. Re: Carpet installed in hall in 2-3m sections 8Oct 22, 2017 9:09 am I've taken photos with the carpet all scruffy up, vacuumed one way, then the other, in day light, in cloudy light, morning light, night light. They really stand out it just bugs the hell out of me. Especially the gaps. I cant seem to make them 'blend in' Re: Carpet installed in hall in 2-3m sections 9Oct 22, 2017 9:21 am Yes, I can understand your frustration. Not really sure what else can be done though. Perhaps get another, well-respected carpet company to come and have a look and pay them for their time. I do think the single colour and plainness of the carpet is making it more obvious, but it does look like the layers could have done a better job with it. I have a really long hallway which is 1100mm W x 11500mm L I would appreciate if anyone can give suggestions to light it up with Linear LED lights that goes from wall to… 0 8814 The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15791 1 11004 |
