Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 08, 2017 6:52 pm Hi. My kitchen sink drain pipe has been leaking a while , l didn't know until l noticed the kitchen flooring became water logged, l pulled up the kitchen vinyl tiles to find the sub floor wet and damp, it also continues under the inbuilt kitchen tables. The sub floor is starting to dry off now, l'm going to get a carpenter to look at it. l was wondering in such a case does the subfloor have to be replaced and roughly how much it would cost if the wooden sub floor beneath the kitchen has to be replaced. The area affected is around 3m x 3m . Do insurance companies usually cover it Re: wooden subfloor water damage 2Jul 08, 2017 7:29 pm Is it yellowtongue flooring? And sorry to answer your question, I would get a building inspector to come and have a look and heko you prepare a claim if that's the avenue you want to go down, insurance companies are sometimes difficult with this kind of thing. Take some photos post them up Re: wooden subfloor water damage 3Jul 08, 2017 10:45 pm It's best to have it checked first. I agree with Lochie that insurance companies are sometimes difficult with this kind of damages (plus it also takes time). But make sure to take photos for proof/evidence. there was an event. The question is whether the builder had the insurance and whether the event was covered. The workmanship is a separate conversation. 10 23752 Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4070 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews. Have you or someone you know have used it and would recommend over other subfloor options?… 2 7591 |
