Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 04, 2017 11:06 am This topic may have been done to death... but I am still so stuck I need to decide on what flooring to go on the bottom floor of our new home. It will cover our living spaces as well as the kitchen (not keen on changing flooring on same level). What do people think of tiles/laminate/timber/engineered timber for this space? We ask sales people and of course they say theirs is "better". A few things: - we have kids (well behaved but nevertheless kids) - I drop things a lot - I am worried about water issues - want something homely and nice. I like the Scandinavian look. Would really appreciate some thoughts!!! need to decide in a week. Re: Flooring for bottom floor which includes kitchen and liv 2Apr 04, 2017 8:28 pm Same same except I have a lot longer to decide The are pros and cons of each and none have all pros. Timber is more giving and forgiving but I have doubts about it in a kitchen subject to water. Some types of timber aren't good for hard wear and tear. Tiles can handle the water and the wear (seal the grout!!!) but may crack or chip (expensive to repair) if you're clumsy with heavy stuff. No help at all I'll be doing tiles in the wet areas and some type of timber elsewhere. Can anyone suggest a house layout where the kitchen-dining - living runs the length across the rear of the house left to right where our best view will be we… 0 4348 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7271 got it. thanks. I was looking for word ' Adobe' and added filter. all good. 12 14475 |
