Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 08, 2016 7:59 am Hi we are building a home through a project home company, i am wondering, as we are going to install our own flooring after handover, peoples experiences in doing this? I keep reading lots of people get the skirting boards left of and do them after flooring but it seems like a lot of work. Can anyone show me examples of their vinyl planks or timber laminate installed after skirting and examples of beading. From my googling it doesnt seem as ugly as alot of people on here are saying, especially since you can get some really nice beading/scotia options and they must be alot easier to install rather then the skirting. Re: Putting flooring in after skirting 2Dec 04, 2016 1:19 pm Hi, I have only done it as a renovation of a bathroom & an ensuite, but I removed the skirting, put down boards, and replaced the skirting. I did rip some height off to match the rest of the house. If you're going to put quad around yourself, you may as well just do skirting, maybe more work, but IMO, it looks better. I had this very discussion with my doctor a couple of months ago: his was done with quad. He thought it would have looked better without, but it's an older house, and the skirting is fairly high, and old. bOb Re: Putting flooring in after skirting 3Jan 12, 2017 9:51 am we have laminate floors currently and have the beading...I don't like it we are building a new home and making sure the floor is put in first then the skirting so we don't have the beading I can post a picture tonight when I get home Re: Putting flooring in after skirting 4Jul 14, 2017 5:58 am gunners13 we have laminate floors currently and have the beading...I don't like it we are building a new home and making sure the floor is put in first then the skirting so we don't have the beading I can post a picture tonight when I get home How much did builders charge to lay skirting after? If anything? DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you doing this with a building permit? Conversion of a non habitable room into a habitable room requires building permit. 3 17311 Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
