Hello!
I would love some advice please.
We have engaged a tradie floor sander to sand and polish our timber staircase. It's rather old (40 y/o house). The treads came up so well, but the rises look bad! They used putty that is too light (it looked much better before they started on the rises- the 'holes' we're not even noticeable.
They have charged $780 plus GST to do 14 stairs and the landing in a water based finish (I am concerned about toxicity levels).
They are quoting an extra $240 to sand the rises back again to try to fix it.
What would you do? He can't guarantee that it would fix it. I'm tempted to just paint the rises white.
And why use putty that can't be covered with the stain? Did they stuff up here, or is it just hat happens with older timber?
Is there a way I can upload a pic?
Thank you
