Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 08, 2016 7:46 am We are looking for a durable flooring for a work area which is also used for exercise bikes. Would like a flooring that can potentially be hose out, but also be soft underfoot. Rubber floors was suggested, but how easy to clean are they? The other suggestion was thicker vinyl; how water resistant is vinyl? I feel tiles are too harsh. I'd love to hear feedback from owners of both rubber and vinyl. Re: Flooring for work area 2Aug 08, 2016 9:59 am 600 x 600mm carpeted rubber backed tiles are the way to go. I know a couple of guys who use them in their woodworking workshops and they are great. Easy on their legs and feet as they stand at a lathe , pedestal drill or saw all day, relatively easy to clean as a vacuum will get most dust and if they need a wash just take them outside and run the hose on them. Stewie Re: Flooring for work area 4Aug 08, 2016 10:38 pm The ones I saw were probably a good 5mm of an industrial carpet fixed to an 8mm rubber base , so all up around 13-15mm. They seemed to lay flat on the concrete without any corner lifting even after a few years of use. I too remember el cheapo carpet tiles that were cheap but also pretty nasty. I'm unsure of the brand of them though nor what kind of carpet is on them but I think from memory they were rated as commercial so good for shops, warehouses etc where they get a lot of traffic.
