Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 04, 2016 3:39 pm Looking to identify these floors and would appreciate any help. https://imgur.com/a/pwkP4 -Constructed in about 1937 in Queensland. At that time the floors were designed to be covered up with carpet. -Accordingly, these have only been exposed to light for about 2 years since I removed the carpet and had them polished. -It's a semi gloss and no coloured stain. -It's entirely possible there are different woods, given they weren't built for show. However they don't really look as different as in the photos - that's more the lighting. -I included a photo of a spot that is unpolished which has just had covering pulled off. It's wet in the picture (excuse the dirt). -They are definitely rather hard. Worlds ahead of the pine I have elsewhere in terms of resisting damage. -Sorry the photos aren't great- it's hard to photograph shiny floors! Any ideas wood experts? I have had a floor guy have a look but he wasn't confident with his identification. Thanks a million in advance. I totally agree with everything you have written. Thanks again for your always excellent input and advice. I really enjoy reading your posts cheers Simeon 1 3278 1 364 We are tossing up between a Jarrahdale radiant wood fire (the Pioneer) and a convection wood fire (Innovator or Countryman) but cannot decide on which type of wood fire is… 0 5250 |
