If so you can tell by running a lint remover (those red suede wand looking things) across both sides of the join in the same way to establish pile direction. If it were legitimate pile reversal or reverse shading then I would always attempt to position that piece somewhere smarter than a butt join. a.) it rarely looks that uniform & only usually affects 2ish metres. The carpet is a little difficult to stop from bending over like it has at the edges but acheivable.
