Will our tiler be unhappy with our choice? wouldn't they be harder to lay because of existing slope/fall etc? Do you think they will date fast than traditional look tiles? we are starting our bathroom renos soon and I'm really keen on this look we already have vinyl planks through out the rest of the house so I was thinking these should tie in nicely but Hubby need more convincing, TIA Nat Re: Timber look tiles in Bathroom opinions pls 2Jul 28, 2015 1:38 pm I must admit, I do like the appearance of bathrooms with timber-look tiles. I like bathrooms that have a "natural" kind of aesthetic rather than stark white contemporary or colonial styles. However, I wouldn't use timber-look tiles because I think they will date very quickly - like that fake quartz-looking stack-stone stuff that everyone went mad on around 5-10 years ago. As a general rule of thumb, when renovating my houses I don't use products that are made to look like something else. If I want timber, I will use real timber. If I want stone, I will use real stone and so on (with a few exceptions, like engineered stone benchtops for example). Trends come and go, but in general terms if you look at well-designed buildings constructed at any time over history, the ones made out of natural materials have never gone out of fashion. But the range of timber look porcelain tiles and stone look porcelain tiles continue to grow with more sophistication. And the supreme practicality of porcelain tiles make them very appealing to many people. Glazed porcelain tiles can be used virtually anywhere including the outdoor area and the wet area. They maintain the original look for a very long time without any serious maintenance. Stunning designs made possible by the latest technology make them one of the most popular tiles being sold at the moment. Wish you all the best!
