Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 18, 2015 9:08 pm Hi everyone, We have a gorgeous Victorian terrace house from the 1880s and the previous owner has put solid timber blackbutt (select grade) flooring in the living and dining areas of the house. I am a huge fan of blackbutt but it looks out of place in a beautiful old terrace with many original features. For at least 5 more years (probably more like 10), we won't be able to take out the flooring and replace with something more in character so we have been thinking about having a professional come in to sand back and stain/finish the blackbutt flooring with something like Feast Watson Japan Black. The dining room has a beautiful ornate fireplace and the property has white walls, tall skirtings and cornices. The black floors could look amazing!!! We are planning to carpet the stairs and upstairs bedrooms with Redbook Green range in Charcoal Dust from Carpet Court - Michelle do you have any advice on this? We plan to keep the walls either white or Dulux Grey Pebble with white trims. However, my question for the forum is... have any of you sanded/stained/polished blackbutt flooring with Feast Watson Black Japan or do you have any advice as to how it will come out? Is this type of flooring even suitable for staining? Thank you vtt Re: Staining Blackbutt to Black? 2Mar 12, 2016 8:34 pm Hi there, Just wondering what you decided to do. We have just bought an old Edwardian house with blackbutt parquet floors. We are also considering black Japan. Thanks Carolyn Hi, I have an area of zincalume cladding encasing a number of external downpipes. Unfortunately one of them has been permanently stained by some diluted phosphoric acid -… 0 549 The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
