Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 23, 2008 9:41 pm Ok, we went to *** in South Melbourne and found 3 types of carpets that we like. All of them are 100% wool:
Our fave (but most expensive from the range): Palisade (the one shown here is the thickest from the range.. looks and feels so soft): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We're thinking of going for the chocolate for the HT (the one on the top) and choosing between the 4th or the 6th one (for the bedrooms). We reckon this is not good for the study as it is so thick): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2nd choice - Walkabout (with some texture): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We like the 1st and the 5th (for the bedrooms) and the chocolate again for the HT: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Walkabout and Palisade side by side: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Which one looks better... and which one is better in terms of durability? hmm.. might have to ask Ash on this. 3rd option (cheapest from the 3) - Romany (textured loop): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ What caught me with the 3rd one was the photo that I saw when it was laid... very nice.. looks elegant.. though not sure if this is suitable for us. Can you help us decide which ones to choose (especially Ash)? We want something that will last (especially for the bedrooms, as we're not planning to change it within the next 10-15 years). We want a carpet that is soft and at the same time durable. For the study, I believe we need something different... which is not within these ranges. Re: Help us choose the carpet... 2Jun 23, 2008 9:46 pm Hi VJ,
Style wise I like 2, then 3, then 1. I personally like textured carpets. Colour wise not sure. I like dark carpets, but I'm more a gray/charcoal person than a beige/brown person. Probably no help but anyway. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help us choose the carpet... 3Jun 23, 2008 9:54 pm Hi VJ,
I know nothing about carpet but that 3rd one maxima looks absolutely stunning. It definately has a modern look about it and very eyecatching. I'm sure there is another member who is getting this carpet or the like, I saw a post about a week ago (anybody know remember?) Anyway, I like all your choices but I am just as confused. Mrs B Re: Help us choose the carpet... 4Jun 23, 2008 11:09 pm We had a carpet like the walkabout one in our gamesroom in our last house. We chose a light brown/cream colour. Somewhere between teh 2/3 colour in that sample book. Carpet lasted fairly well although there was some surface damage occuring the last couple of years we had it with 1 office (roller) type chair on it without a chair mat. ( until the last yr) The carpet was down approximately 10 years. Pretty good going I would have to say.
We had it professionally cleaned every 12 months or so. Re: Help us choose the carpet... 5Jun 24, 2008 1:16 am Hi VJ,
Yes I'm here. There is not too much between them and ultimately, it is up to you which you like the best. I don't want to be swaying your choices, other than to inform you how each may perform. It looks as though the first carpet will feel softer and more luxurious under foot. It will perform well generally, but may be subject to pile reversal shading to some degree. This isn't a fault, but a characteristic that some people are happy with but others dislike. Being plain, makes it more neutral in textural terms (so consider how that fits in with you decor choices). The others (being linear in design) will require a good layer to match any cross seams carefully if they are required. They will probably feel firmer under foot, and possibly be a little more hard wearing. I'm not a great fan of linear styled carpets, but please don't take that as anything much more than another opinion. They are quite attractive. Again, it is your choice, but I'd favour them in order 1,2 and 3. Ash. Re: Help us choose the carpet... 7Jun 24, 2008 9:48 am If it's of any help there was a discussion on carpet for studies in
https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=6168 As far as you selections go there all nice....my personal preference are textured carpets ones....and having kids....for darker colors....but that can change if I see it in the flesh. Well done for photographing the back of the carpet, Ash must have been so proud...! mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Help us choose the carpet... 8Jun 24, 2008 10:12 am Hi VJ, they're all beautiful carpets! I like the Palisade, chocolate for HT will look great! And my vote is for 4th one down for bedrooms...
The textured ones are really nice too though! Hard choice Simone Re: Help us choose the carpet... 9Jun 24, 2008 11:23 am VJ,
I replied to this post eairler, but it has dissapeared Does anyone know who stole it?? Anyway, what I was going to say was that the first one looks lovely and soft, but you might want to check that it doesnt leave that vaccuum mark - Ash mentioned this in his post. A textured carpet is more forgiving for your kids, and go the colour closest to dirt, that way you wont see the mess the kids make Paula Re: Help us choose the carpet... 10Jun 24, 2008 1:32 pm Paula VJ, I replied to this post eairler, but it has dissapeared Does anyone know who stole it?? : It was me... I might have to re-read all the previous posts about carpets to help us finalise our decision. We have 2 more months to choose anyway... But it's definite that we will use Palisade (chocolate colour) for the HT. For the bedrooms... we like the look of plush/plain-looking Palisade and the textured Walkabout and Romany... so not too bad of we end up with any of the 3. and btw, we prefer 100% wool. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! 1 11050 1 15823 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6612 |
