Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 24, 2015 5:41 pm I hope someone out there can shed some light on this for me. I am having bamboo flooring installed in the living areas/kitchen/ hallways in my new house with carpet to bedrooms. I have seen a lot of people saying that they are not putting their skirting boards on their walls with the plaster until after their flooring (timber/bamboo/laminate) is installed so that they can avoid using beading along the edges, for aesthetic purposes. What I want to know is, does this mean that the skirting boards in the rooms with carpet will be much lower than the rooms with the bamboo flooring? Because if I can avoid the beading, which really does spoil the look IMHO, I would like to, however I just don't know how to get around having skirting boards at different heights...? TIA Re: Bamboo flooring installation - beading or no beading? 2Mar 24, 2015 5:46 pm Yes, I would assume they will be higher. A much nicer finish though. Edit... Forgot to mention you would normally have the door frames that would "break" they skirting between the rooms. Re: Bamboo flooring installation - beading or no beading? 3Mar 24, 2015 5:52 pm Thats true, the door frames will tend to separate the two heights so it may not be as obvious, except in our theatre room, we are not having a door there, so I wonder how I'd get around that...? I need to replace the worn mohair seal on my sliding window, but I can't get access to the end to slide the old one out & push the new one in. I could probably rip the old… 0 5184 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6134 |
