Is it true that engineered timber is more stable as compared to pre-finished solid timber. I was considering solid timber but heard reports about warping and lipping. Any comparison of solid timber vs engineered floor boars would be very helpful. thanks vp Re: engineered floor boards vs solid timber 2Jun 21, 2008 12:54 pm Any boards that have warped would probably be a result of moisture, whether it be from the sub-floor or not 'acclimatising' boards before laying.
Enginnereed boards and solid boards are two different things altogether including the way they are laid. Engineered boards can always be sanded in the future. Engineered boards are more prone to problems in kitchens etc where spillages occur and many of them cannot be sanded Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15952 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors.
