Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 17, 2015 1:19 pm Hi Are the wideboard (119m?) Blackbutt available in the 'standard' grade or only the 'select' grade? If they exist, can any genius find a pic of the 'standard' in a wideboard on a floor? We are putting solid timber floors in our new home. Do you think 'standard' shows more dings and drops over time than select.. my husband is concerned it won't look 'clean' and too knotty.. we are going for a contemporary look. Re: Flooring experts/people with timber - Blackbutt 2Feb 28, 2015 6:31 am Sorry can't help you with pics of wideboards, but I would think that "Select" grade would "show more dings and drops over time". The irregularities of standard grade would disguise imperfections created by us. Blackbutt can be very variable depending on the source of the supply, so I'd recommend seeing samples from potential suppliers and also photos of their finished work. http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Flooring experts/people with timber - Blackbutt 3Mar 06, 2015 10:13 am Sorry yes I meant to say select.. typo in my first post. I was also thinking it would show more dings over time. I totally agree with everything you have written. Thanks again for your always excellent input and advice. I really enjoy reading your posts cheers Simeon 1 3272 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15839 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6148 |
