Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 27, 2014 6:21 pm We have the option to put in our bamboo flooring before or after we install the kitchen. From what I have read people are pretty split on the internet about whether to put the floor down first (and under the cabinets) or to put it down second (and around cabinets). We are not using beading/quads around the rest of the house so how would that work in the kitchen if you lay it down second? Anyone want to put their two cents in on what should be done first given the choice? Thanks Re: Floating floor before or after kitchen installed? 3Dec 27, 2014 9:12 pm We put the floor down first. Kicks are the "kick boards" of your kitchen. And no they can't be used as an alternative to beading. If you leave the kick boards off your kitchen after it is installed, the flooring guys can come in and lay the boards just under where the kicks will be. Therefore giving you a neat look around the kicks when put on.
