Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 29, 2014 8:06 am Hi Hi experts Appreciate your help. What are good ('real') timber flooring options - species - finish - level of gloss on the finish. I think our desired finish is from light blonde to honey at the darkest. I don't prefer the reddish colour. Our builder (custom plan) had budgeted in the initial rough quote $160 sqm for timber flooring. We are building on bearers and joists. My husband likes the wide format boards and so do I but unsure if we can get these in our budget. Thank you! Re: Timber flooring options 2Nov 01, 2014 1:56 pm I too will be interested Leksie5000 to see what some people say re the timber floors I'm trying to choose mine now and like you have a custom plan (ours with a local builder) I love Spotted Gum or Grey Ironbark but am not sure if they will be within our budget. Photos of different floors would be helpful too if anyone has some, I know timbers vary a lot but would be good to see some pictures. Have you got any samples to see what you like? I got some but still can't make up my mind Loving our new home, Upper Hunter NSW on 2.5 acres Timber flooring options 3Nov 01, 2014 8:13 pm You will def be able to get a wood floor for 169/m2. Boards are around 80-100/m2 then 30/m lay+30/m sand and polish. I love blackbutt in australiana grade..still has some feature to it. I personally think the select grade looks a bit fake. No need to stain these timbers, just use a good polyurethane. High gloss shows all the dust but looks great, the satin is a good all round finish. If your in melbourne go to a place on the corner of Keillor park drive and slater pde. Can't remember what it's called. They have every species on display. PS we are getting tiles, but only because that's what the wife wants. Re: Timber flooring options 8Dec 10, 2014 11:16 am B STAR they may have included it into the cost of the timber. Underlay, glue, water proofing or plastic and concrete nails are not cheap. What is the price range? Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15922 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed.
