Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 26, 2014 12:06 pm Hi all, Just seeing what others have used in their living areas - matte or gloss tiles?? I am about to start my build and tossing up between the two. Gloss looks nice, but apparently requires more cleaning and maintenance - not ideal for a 26yo single male! Matte apparently does not require cleaning as frequently and is a bit less slippery. Over to you! Did you choose gloss or matte tiles to your living areas and why?? Thanks! I would go matt if I had to choose again. Or I I would get one of those roomba vacuums. With the gloss, if you walk around in bare feet, it leaves footprints etc. Just another top too - think about sealing the grout as it gets filthy if you mop regularly. Most builders don't include this. For my current house I went with a tile that's matt but has a gloss type pattern through it. It doesn't leave any foot or hand prints but it's just in the bathrooms. I think I will go with the matte - anything that is less maintenance gets the tick of approval from me Dale - Building Newbie Proserpine, QLD Re: Matte or Gloss tiles to living areas? 4Oct 27, 2014 3:44 pm Gloss look stunning, but to keep them that way takes a lot of work... but then again if you are out at work all day and have no pets then they should stay fairly clean with one mop a week. That said I wouldn't want gloss in my house unless I had a cleaner coming in daily to make sure they stay pretty... I certainly wouldn't want to put in the effort it takes to keep the gloss tiles looking nice.
