Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 17, 2014 12:28 pm We are just contemplating our floor coverings. If we go for wood or bamboo there are two ways to treat a cement floor - floating or glued down. I am interested in people's informed comments about both methods. I have installed a floating click laminate before and wasn't hugely impressed with it. It was easy to do but the finish was not perfect…… but they were cheap laminate boards. I haven tried glue down boards. Re: floating vs glued flooring 2Jan 17, 2014 2:03 pm are you refering to buying floating floor but having this glued down. Or are you talking about the tradional timber wood floor that might be either direct stick or stuck onto ply. In this method the floor would then be sanded and sealed. It the case I mentioned this will always be the prefered option but it does come at a price. Another large bonus with having a floating floor is that if any part of the flooring is damaged the affected area can easily be replaced. If glue is used to becomes very difficult to repair without damaging even more flooring.
