I'm ordering 10mm for a combination of factors. Soft Under Foot and intended added foot step sound reduction on First Floor. Is there any truth to increased wear on carpets with 10mm underlay given the additional flexing of the carpet pile? And do you think that there is some merit in the sound reduction! I have check kardean but quite negative reviews . HI Michelle it is product from coretect and usfloor http://www.usfloorsllc.com/product-category/coretec-plus/pro-plus/ and selling local carpet call. I am confuse between kardean and coretec because these are 2 product which don't requires hard boarding before laying on the upper floor. Do you know another Vinyl product which don't require hard board before they lay. Kardean reviews not great . Please advice https://www.productreview.com.au/p/karndean.html Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 725Nov 19, 2018 5:51 pm nafeesra nafeesra Hi Michelle Any idea about coretec proplus tacked (clip system) could not find too much reviews about them . Please advice https://www.productreview.com.au/p/karndean.html Champagne Oak (In the link as a bad flooring) is a loose lay Long Board and is not a clip system. I have never had that complaint ever in all my years selling Karndean. As far as the coretect flooring, never heard of it and the link really didn't tell me much. So I can't say positive or negative about it. As far as the hardboard goes, if your laying any vinyl flooring over a chip board surface all require hard board except any of the Hybrids or Karndean Looselay. They are only the ones I know about through Choices flooring, there may be others out there. In my opinion you can't go past any of the Karndean products. Go to a Choices Flooring store and check out the Abode Hybrid flooring, all clip systems, 4 ranges to choose from and more coming. These are my recommendations, as well as the loose lay. I hoped this has helped. Is there any truth to increased wear on carpets with 10mm underlay given the additional flexing of the carpet pile? And do you think that there is some merit in the sound reduction! Regards GLO I'll try again with your reply. My thoughts on underlay.... the thicker the better! 10mm is fine, and will not increase the wear of your carpet at all. In fact, it's the other way around it will increase the life of your carpet! When your cheap and nasty underlay decides to flatten, this leave your carpet with nothing to hold it up, so it stretches and gets waves in it and looks really bad. Most defiantly, the thinker your soft flooring the better sound reduction you will have! Hope this has helped. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 729Jan 27, 2019 5:37 pm Hi Michelle, we will have 8mm laminated flooring to upper floor (all bedrooms and hallway) however I'm worried that it's going to be noisy. Do we need to upgrade the underlay? We are building 2 storey 52 squares. We will have carpet only in the rumpus, but the rest of the upper floor is laminated (except wet areas). We have laminated flooring in our current home but this is single storey and some nights we can hear squeaking sound or maybe because it is touching the concrete? Thanks Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 730Jan 27, 2019 5:41 pm Michelle NellieB Michelle, I was wondering what your thoughts are about hybrid flooring (say from Preference Floors) versus a vinyl plank flooring! Michelle, it is for an existing house that we have been in for a few years now. We currently have carpet and tiles and we are willing to pull up everything to get to the concrete base. Since my post we are looking at the Aspire range (Preference Floors) for hybrid or the Van Gough range with Karndean if we were to go down the vinyl plank route. Just not sure which way to go as we are getting a lot of conflicting information. The difference is, Hybrids still needs Scotia around the perimeter of a room for slight expansion. Karndean Van Gough is a direct stick and will go right up next your skirting, no Scotia needed. The Hybrid are really good for laying over existing tiles. Personally, I'd go the direct glue Karndean. I hope this has helped. We are building a new house and the skirtings will be tacked on until the floor is installed, and the skirtings fixed after. I am not a fan of Scotia at all.
