Are they resistant to water or will they have the same issues as floating laminate? It does say it is water resistant on the package but I am a little skeptical having lived with floating laminate for a couple of years. Could you run a wet mop over it? Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 182Apr 08, 2015 12:09 pm Hey Jinx, on the Carpet Court website is states that the Omega Planks are great for wet areas like the bathroom and laundry, not that I'd but them in the wet areas but this is another reason I'm thinking of switching to them as well (from bamboo). Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 184Apr 08, 2015 6:47 pm Jinx, the vinyl is fine with water, I'm putting vinyl in all my wet areas. Thanks for the info Michelle, you've been very helpful. I do have just one more question... Does the vinyl expand and/or contract at all? Or have any thoughts on bamboo flooring? Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 189Apr 11, 2015 9:35 pm Hi Cm stewart, First, you would have to wonder WHY this flooring store would even bother keeping a product that they feel they need to get their customers to sign a waiver form with? I would flick it out the door and not stock it! So to me that sounds strange. I have been told by a rep that Bamboo can take on moisture if it is being laid in a moist climate, but that would mean swelling not shrinking. If bamboo shrinks, would that not just mean the gap around the perimeter would be greater? Hmm, might ask about this on Monday, I'll get back to you. If you get a chance, its good to acclimatize your timbers before laying them. Thank you Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 191Apr 13, 2015 6:02 pm Cm stewart, Had a chat to one of the guys at work and we are both confused with the comment. Neither of us are aware of just shrinkage in Bamboo. Normally you will get expansion and retraction not just retraction. Seriously, give those guys a miss, and go to another flooring store for a second opinion. Again in such a hot area I would consider acclimatize your timbers/bamboos before laying them. I personally love bamboo, it would be the only floating floor I would have. I did go to another store today a they recommended bamboo as an excellent option for our needs! I'm so glad because I love the look of the bamboo compared to laminate flooring! It is a cut pile solution dyed carpet and the sample seeems to show shading and footprints making it look dirty. Is there a similar product that doesnt flatten so much. NB I have 2 cats that love clawing soft surfaces so i have to take that into consideration. Also is there a higher quality product that looks the same as this carpet. I have the funds to put the hardest wearing carpet down and I only want to shift the furniture once in the next 15 years! Thanks Yes, you need a strip of it running all the way down the runner to help hold it in place. Good move belladonna99, moving furniture out every few years would be a nightmare! Also, carpet just keeps going up in price its only going to cost more later. Try and stay away from anything soft. You would be looking for a tight low pile twist. The sad thing is, because the softs are so popular all the manufacturers are doing soft now. If you want a carpet to last, go and look at Baltamore, 4mt wide from Allied. Carpet Court sell it, its a heaving wearing carpet that just keeps going. Totaly different to what you are looking at, but a really good carpet. Bleach won't take the colour out of this carpet!! SO, cat vomit will be easy to get out also. Let me know how you get on.... And how does it compare to real timber in terms of maintenance and cost?? Hi vasqla....do you have an understanding on each of the products, one being ceramics the other being timber?? The 2 differences speak for themselves really. Timber will always be dearer than a tile, tiles will always be water resistant.
