We are looking at using Godfrey Hirst for the entire house except bathroom and ensuite. What's your opinion on them? And is there anything we should be aware of? If so, can you help me in regards to a step down with the nosing I've been told you can't actually do it with the quick-step laminate largo boards. Is that true? So I was thinking of switching to vinyl planks for it's durability. I really had my heart set the bamboo (Embleton brand) but will the bamboo stand up to the typical children's wear & tear? Or do you think I'd be better going with something else, like the vinyl? We are getting the planks in the kitchen, living areas and hallways (75sq area total)... IF, you have bamboo on order, this now is your property. You need to check if you are able to swap products at this stage. Once into the store the flooring is yours. Let me how you go. I confirmed with the store that we can still change our mind as he has our order but won't be placing it for a few weeks. He mentioned that they have had a few shrinkage issues with the bamboo and he wasn't sure if it was the moisture in the bamboo from manufacture or the environment. But then he also mentioned that the vinyl tends to show imperfections in the slab whereas bamboo doesn't....I'm getting so confused with all the pros and cons... Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 177Apr 08, 2015 5:57 am ShannaLK....there is now a floating vinyl floor from G/Hirst. We are selling it hand over fist. Daren Palmer has one available also. Same principle as timber floating floors only in vinyl. With glue down vinyls yes they can show imperfection in the slab, but here is where floor prep comes into it. The layer should know how to level out the floor with Ardit so the slab is level for the vinyl planks, as when you use roll vinyl. This is where the floating vinyl has become popular, NO floor prep. Yes Bamboo can take on extra moisture from the air especially if you live by the water, its very important that the 8 to 10 ml gap is left around the perimeter of the room to allow for this. My girlfriend has the clip vinyl in her salon, looks fantastic, quiet, and softer underfoot. I'm not sure my flooring guy would get the Godfrey Hirst vinyl for me, he sells their carpets but he has about 4 different brands of vinyl Karndean,MFlor, Rhino Elements and Uberfloor. I guess I have nothing to lose by asking. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 179Apr 08, 2015 7:52 am Is he a carpet court? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 180Apr 08, 2015 7:56 am No, he isn't but there is a carpet court out here I could ask...that's where our carpets are coming from. For some reason my builder is the one that sent off for the quotes to an independent smaller flooring retailer and his bamboo prices (Embleton) are very very reasonable for this area ($85 sq, installed). However, I am now going to get a quote from our nearest Carpet Court for the Omega Planks that you have mentioned as I have looked at the range online and they sound like exactly what I need. Just as a rough figure, would you say these Omega planks would be comparable in price to the bamboo? Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
