We have a large area of structurally ok but ugly tiles and I really want to get rid of them. Trying to save $$$ and hoping to go over the top. The lovely man mentioned vinyl plank and laminate flooring - I can't remember much more than that / which would be best (living / kitchen area) and is it really ok to go over the tiles??? High traffic area for 2 people and one small dog. Thank you Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 542Feb 12, 2017 1:45 pm Willow8 Hi Michelle, I asked all of these questions at my local Carpet Court last week but got distracted by something shiny / immediately forgot everything I was told....... If this is not what you would like to do, then yes with the right floor preparation you can install a glue down vinyl plank, loose lay vinyl, clip vinyl and laminate. Below is an installer gluing down Karndean tiles on concrete after a grind and skim. You would require the skim or flow, or both. We are looking at laminate flooring and we dont want the cheapest and cant afford the most expensive. Is there a midrange at carpet court? I see there are quite a few ranges. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 547Jul 11, 2017 6:50 pm Hi there, Mid range would be the GodfryHirst Rang. Or the Eligna in the Quickstep. We are looking for a carpet for our living room, study, stairs, hallway, rumpus and all bedrooms. Is this a decent enough carpet or would your advice to pay the extra for El Caimo (http://www.beaulieu.com.au/product-details/el-camino) or Mystic Isle (http://www.beaulieu.com.au/product-details/mystic-isle)? We want to find out what type of flooring is best for us: 1. Vinyl - Costly but durable, no real wood feeling. 2. Laminate - Real wood feeling, but may get damaged due to spills etc. 3. Tiles - Cold, not trendy Can you please advise what is best for us, our requirements are mid-range, trendy and durable flooring. Thank you. Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 553Jul 17, 2017 7:03 pm Hi AndyGee, You can't go past the vinyl planks for durability and easy replacement if damaged. Totally water proof, pet friendly and kid safe!! Highly recommend. There are many types on the market but my preferred vinyl is Karndean Hope this helps. I have changed jobs, I now work for Choices flooring Nowra, not Carpet Court anymore. Unfortunately Choices don't keep GH hard flooring. If I remember this week I'll enquire for you, as I don't know this flooring. Sorry. Do choices have any of the new hybrid type of flooring? There are several manufacturers... Is it worth waiting (a few months) to see how it turns out? or is it certain that it drawns apon the benefits of both vinyl & laminate? Can you recommend what is the best type of flooring to go with, or types to avoid? We definitely want something that will not dent with furniture, so we can move furniture around and change layouts without having marks and dents all over the place. What are people's experiences of having timber floors - better or worse than carpet? This would be in all three bedrooms, on the stairs and the upstairs living area. Thanks in advance! We don't want anything soft that will scratch or dent with furniture on it. I have heard bamboo is the hardest type of flooring but have also heard mixed reviews on having it. Thanks mate.
