I was hesitant due to the extremely thin wood layer (0.6mm). The sales staff were quite insistent that its a better product than the 3mm layer that they also sell - saying its actually more durable. Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 933Jun 09, 2022 2:56 pm We've done some more research and checks and are pretty happy to proceed with Aqua Stone V7 hybrid flooring. I got some samples of both gloss flooring (from Lion King Flooring in Sydney) and Karndean Looslay to compare. As a few people said the gloss wasn't great - it was very shiny, slippery and we were able to 'dirty' it easily and it showed everything when reflecting light. Our old house had a gloss bench which I hated and I instantly had flashbacks of trying to clean the bastard of a thing with an Enjo! The Karndean were ok, but again I didn't like the surface finish/embossing and how they look/felt. Pics below showing all samples - the actual floors n the background are 'real' timber as a comparison. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkigOX7ZFxvViSPuKohD3aqE1c0t?e=jKB8Nb It reinforced that we will have to have the matt finish but I wanted something with a smooth finish (no embossing). I spent a day going around looking at different stores and really liked the Aqua Stone V7 hybrid flooring in 702 (NSW Blackbutt) https://www.ubtrading.com.au/aqua-stone-v7/ https://www.ubtrading.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/43405UBT-Aqua-Stone-V7-Brochure-V3-web.pdf It doesn't look exactly like timber, but we like it more than any other hybrid or vinypl plank. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkigOX7ZFxvViSHHXWOo8PdqZePZ?e=yp33MA https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkigOX7ZFxvViSKlKxrG8O0B_LpO?e=8fvrvg https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkigOX7ZFxvViSSopPT2LPqk-AME?e=NObFbQ Getting quotes now - first quote is back at $70/sm for 200sm which we are happy about. $14k installed is good for the budget! Only odd thing I've found - one store I asked for a quote doesn't stock it due to "the supplier of this product is not a preferred supplier of the Flooring Xtra group (however it is up to the discretion of each individual Flooring Xtra store, and some may choose to carry this line). Our store will only carry products that we know are backed up by a reliable warranty and will cover the floor should anything happen to go wrong/fail with it" Other stores from the same chain stock it. I've asked the place that provided the first quote and they have a warranty of 7 years for installation and 30 years for product. Product review has one poor review (https://www.productreview.com.au/listin ... c-flooring) which the supplier has responded to. I don't know the product. In my book, the thicker the layer the better. Hi , we are also tossing for SPC Aqua Stone from ub trading or Resiplank from Espada. As UB Trading is a wholesaler and does not do installation, May I know are the supplier and installer you have been quoted. Thanks in advance Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 936Jun 30, 2022 2:18 pm I have a quesion. When choosing engineered timber floors (Quick-Step), should I pay extra to get them installed glued down or the default floating method is good enough? Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 938Jul 09, 2022 11:37 pm Hi Michelle We are building a two storey home with tile floor throughout main ground but looking to do a wood/wood look on the stairs (with returns), through the landing and into bedrooms. Concrete upper slab. We have young children so perhaps thinking hybrid as kids may well scratch, dent, spill things on hard wood. Budget isn't really an issue as we've allowed for hardwood so any option is in play. Forever home but family home, it'll be lived in, kids will be kids, animals no doubt feature. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. Re: I work in flooring - do you have a flooring question? 939Aug 17, 2022 7:07 pm Hi, I live on a hill, downstairs doesn't get any sun so cold all the time. The floor is laminate on concrete slab, is there anyway to retrofit insulation on top of the concrete slab?
