IF we do porcelian tiles, we will do carpets in the bedrooms and hometheatre. Another concern with the tiles is the grout lines.. So thinking of timber flooring...We currently have polished porcelain tiles so know the pros and cons of this.. Hardwood timber seems to be really $$$$ so now looking at Engineered Timber..What are the pros and cons of each? If we do timber/engineered timber we will probably do the house house including bedrooms with this - it will be almost 250 sqm(not including wet areas and Home theatre)..so its a big area... Your advice is much appreciated! I would rather see scratches then dirty grout . Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 91Nov 21, 2014 12:14 pm Hi Melsie68 i hear you! We have light beige polished porcelain tiles..the tiles are fine but the grout annoy me!!! That's why we are considering engineered timber.. Building with Celebration homes SOR Perth [color=#BF00BF] Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 92Nov 21, 2014 12:19 pm Michelle Bonnie_p I have a flooring question if you dont mind? Vinyl plank floorboards have been HIGHLY recommended to me, even over my original choice of timber laminate. Apparently the laminate is extremely easy to swell and the vinyl is much hardier - especially with children and pets. Ive also been told its MUCH easier to lay ourselves. Would you agree with what i have been told? thanks! Hi Bonnie, sorry for the late reply I didn't receive notice of a reply in this forum. Vinyl planks are one of my favourite flooring, they are very strong, water proof and easy to replace a plank if damaged. In my opinion, they are NOT a DIY flooring unless you have done this before or your a floor installer. Too much glue will result in lifting, not enough glue will be the same. Leave it to the experts if you never want to touch it again. If a board is damaged it is heated up with a blow dryer to release the glue and another is put in its place. Now, having said all this, it is un fare to dismiss laminate flooring. If you buy good quality laminate the backing is fairly water resistant. unless your dishwasher leaks or a tap burst it should be fine with water....just wipe all spills up when they happen NO STEAM MOPS!!! At all on any floating floor! I hope this has helped Thanks for the response Michelle. We have since settled on a laminate timber floor - my original choice. It is on the higher end of the range so hoping that we get many great years from it. Thanks for your help Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 93Nov 21, 2014 12:40 pm sara.alag Hi Melsie68 i hear you! We have light beige polished porcelain tiles..the tiles are fine but the grout annoy me!!! That's why we are considering engineered timber.. We have unglazed porcelain beige coloured tiles and the grout is Mocha. It is fine so far, doesn't show dirt (except for ash from my wood stove) and the grout lines are extremely fine so don't really catch food etc. Being able to have darker grout was part of why I chose that color for my tiles...What I don't like is I see footprints on the actual tiles, thought having unglazed would rectify that. Obviously not. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 94Dec 19, 2014 1:25 pm Hi Michelle, need some advice Because we intend to have the Carpet Court Provincial Lane European Vinyl Plank laid after handover, the builder needs to know the approximate thickness of the plank plus screeding. As we are going for the glued down version of the vinyl plan as opposed to the click version, could you advice how many millimeters thickness we should advise the builder to allow for the vinyl plank and screed so that they can adjust the bottom of the internal doors to suit? From memory I think the brochure states that the glue down plank version is 2.5mm thick? As far as the screed goes, you need enough to level the floor only. It will depend how his concreter has left your slab. Heres the warranty.....read through it. http://www.carpetcourt.com.au/media/imp ... -Guide.pdf Best you go get a brochure on the flooring so everyone knows what they are doing. Sorry....I've lost my computer at work and now have to share so its not at my desk any more.... http://www.carpetcourt.com.au/european-vinyl-plank.html Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 96Jan 12, 2015 2:54 pm Hey Michelle, what are your thoughts on the provincial lane super soft carpets? Again, not much technical information available like weights etc, but it felt very nice and looked good... Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 97Jan 12, 2015 7:34 pm Nice carpet...made from a pretty good manufacturer. We've had a fair bit of interest in the carpet. I have put a post up on Facebook about the supersoft carpets and the fact that certain vacuum cleaners are having a hard time with them. Number 1 being the Dysons. They are not coping the pile height and the softness of the new carpets. No doubt Dyson will make changes to their design as the soft carpets are becoming more and more popular. If you or anyone elese are looking at the new super softs carpets, take a sample home and make sure you vacuum the carpet while you have it so you know weather the vacuum will cope or not. If not, go and get a Hoover, with a stage 3 powerhead and you should be good. (Just until Dyson sort it) Deeps....will check out the specks for you tomorrow at work. Thanks! Much appreciated - do you know what weight the carpet is? Is $229 a lineal metre a good price? Usually if you are buying over 20 odd mts you should get a discount, the more you buy the better the discount. $229? that's an excellent price for the quality of this carpet!
