Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 27, 2014 10:38 pm Hi, I'm having tiles from the front door through the kitchen, family, dinning and hallways, over 100m2 and the Standard Builders range we get to choose from is 330 x 330, and I thought they might look to small over such a large area so I picked 450 x 450 they were actually a little cheaper than the $40m2 you're allowed but when the costing came back from pre-start they quoted an extra $1400 to lay them. So now I can't decide if I want to pay another $1400 on top of the original price or whether to have the 330 x 330 instead. So if anyone can help on this it would be great Thank you Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: Help.. Will 330cm tiles look to small in a large area 2Jul 27, 2014 10:48 pm Hi tracey17 For my house we choose 600x600 polished porcelain tiles for the fact that we hate the look of too much grout lines. I must say it was well worth the extra $$$..! our floors look awesome and we have them running all the way from dor entry to kitchen, meals, family room and hallway. They look so big and glossy. I love that there is less grout to see and clean. We are living in a two story rental with 330x330 tiles and I wanna be real with u, it doesnt look nice and too much grout lines. U can see more dirt. Hi Justheart, Thank you for replying I really loved the polished porcelain tiles as well, but thought they would be to slippery so I reluctantly decided on ones with a bit of texture, they are a Charcoal Grey and the grout is pretty much the same so I wouldn't have to worry to much about dirty grout, just the over all look of the tiles.
