Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 06, 2014 8:25 pm Hi There, we are about to start building our new home and are planning on Marri flooring throughout. Now we quite like the idea of having polished concrete in the living/theatre areas with the marri everywhere else. Our living/theatre (northern aspect) are off our entry and hallway which leads down to bedrooms (basically they are in a region of their own) Any feedback, things to consider, advice would be greatly appreciated. E.g Can these two finishes flow well or are big lip raises an issue? Also if the wooden flooring was layed on ply would that have an impact to levels? There is nothing worse that all those 1" and 2" toe-breaker differences in height between different floor finishes that seem all too common in project builders homes. You have to work out with the builder what other flooring you are having through the home, whether you are doing a direct stick to the concrete or installing it over plywood/battens/underlay, the thickness of the flooring itself etc Stewie Re: Combining polished concrete and timber floors 5Jul 15, 2014 1:52 pm While not a great fan of polished concrete - you'd think you could get a happy link beteen the two flooring styles. But agree on the toes issue ... Nothing worse than hitting it in the middle of the night - barefoot.
