The concrete floor has been sealed/painted with epoxy/solvent based paint, however he covers his workshop floor with second hand salvaged carpet (which he gets for nil $). When I last had my car serviced he had white shag pile carpet ion the floor. He said the white carpet made in easier to find dropped nuts/washers etc & they did not roll away. When the carpet is dirty he throws it away & replaces it with more salvaged carpet. He works in rented premises so I suppose he does not want to have an oil stained floor at end of lease. Works quite well actually spills wipe up easily.
