I'm getting stories of $2000 for someone to come in and do it for you, to about $400 to buy the materials yourself. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Of course I'm sure the resin ones will eventually require re-applying, but the time between the two should be in the 'many years' category, versus 'a couple of years' category for normal floor paint. I hope we get more responses, and I'm keen to do something like this to my new home before we move in. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: Painting Garage floor to stop spills absorbing 7May 13, 2014 7:23 pm yeahhh, I'm kinda keen for something that's a light gray, so I might ring them again... he also said that a heavy tool dropped on it is likely to crack it, not exactly what I'm after, more after something that will absorb the impact or just mush a bit without actually letting whatever oils might be around at the time to go through the coating and soak into the concrete Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: Painting Garage floor to stop spills absorbing 8May 13, 2014 8:24 pm Too late to seal the floor after you've spilt oil and grease on the concrete. Re: Painting Garage floor to stop spills absorbing 9May 13, 2014 9:16 pm well, it should soak into the concrete enough and be flexible enough that something hitting it will not allow whatever's on the other side of the epoxy to soak through the epoxy... or so I recon Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: Painting Garage floor to stop spills absorbing 10May 30, 2014 6:15 pm My motor mechanic, who specialises in servicing European cars, has a workshop you could eat you dinner off. The concrete floor has been sealed/painted with epoxy/solvent based paint, however he covers his workshop floor with second hand salvaged carpet (which he gets for nil $). When I last had my car serviced he had white shag pile carpet ion the floor. He said the white carpet made in easier to find dropped nuts/washers etc & they did not roll away. When the carpet is dirty he throws it away & replaces it with more salvaged carpet. He works in rented premises so I suppose he does not want to have an oil stained floor at end of lease. Re: Painting Garage floor to stop spills absorbing 11May 30, 2014 8:07 pm Bunnings has a range of those epoxy coat kits, the one we have here was black in colour and came with with flakes to throw over it. Works quite well actually spills wipe up easily.
